March Favourites

march favourites

Can you believe that it's the last day of March!? This year is flying by already! But... this is my first favourites post of 2016, hooray! I haven't written a favourites post in so long, I'm excited to be doing it. After taking the picture and editing it for this post, I realised that I really do need a new camera. But, my little Canon Powershot will have to do for now.

My first favourite is the Connie lashes from Vintage Cosmetics. My boyfriend bought me a number of different lashes from Vintage Cosmetics for Christmas. These have been my absolute fave this month. They're just so natural and not too long either. They stay on all day and go with every make-up look. I'll definitely buy myself some more of these!

Vaseline has been my saviour throughout this month. Because of the weather changes, my lips were so sore and cracked. After applying this every night before bed and during the day when need be, my lips have been well looked after and it's kept them nice and smooth.
I can honestly say that this Tresemme hairspray is the best hairspray I've ever tried in my life! It keeps your hair in place all day and, it smells good too which is always a winner.
After getting the Naked 3 palette for Christmas, I have been using it a lot. I have been using it more than ever this month due to Spring appearing! We need those gorgeous pink looks for this season!

I have recently discovered this new concealer from Maybelline. Is it new? I don't know, but it's new to me. I have this in 'light' but I do feel like it has an orangey tone to it, but it works! It's a sponge applicator, so it's really gentle for that under eye area. Beings as I bought this right at the start of the month, I can't believe how much of the product I've actually gone through. I do admit, my sister has been loving it too, I keep telling her to buy herself one.

Lastly is my Rimmel London nail polish 'peachella' from Rita Ora's collection, blog post here. I feel that this colour is perfect for this season, it's a pretty peachy pastel colour. I guarantee I'll be wearing this throughout the Summer months too!

What have you been loving this month?

Spring Makeup 2016!

Hello, is this Spring I see? The beautiful blue skies, the warmer weather approaching, daffodils and many other pretty flowers making an appearance. Even though I love all seasons, I'm excited for Spring and Summer this year. I've missed all the light, pastel colours in my life.
So, I've created three different looks for this Spring ranging from blues, yellows and pinks.

5 Products I'd Buy Again

5 products i'd buy again

After writing '5 Products I'll Never Buy Again', I thought I should share with you 5 products that I would buy again and again.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser- I have been through a few of these and I love it! In my other post in relation to this one, I mentioned that I didn't get on with Benefit's porefessional. I do admit that this product works so much better for me, it gives me the poreless look I want. Also, it's so much cheaper than porefessional which is great!

Batiste Dry Shampoo for Blonde Hair- I've mentioned this product in one of my monthly favourites posts before. Even though I love Batistes normal dry shampoo, I love this even more because it's fantastic for root regrowth by giving a hint of colour to your hair and it freshens it up so much. Don't worry brunettes, they do dry shampoo for you too!

Soap & Glory Supercat Liner- I have been wanting to try out this liner for absolutely ages. If you didn't know, I won this in one of Soap & Glory's twitter competitions before Christmas, if you're interested in the products I won, there's a blog post here. After the first use of this liner, I loved it and it was my all time favourite.

Soap & Glory Love At First Blush- Again, I won this in Soap & Glory's twitter competition. Being honest with you, I didn't wear that much blush before getting this product. Now I wear it near enough every day. I love the design of it, I think it's very different. Although, my blush brush is way too big to pick out one shade, so I just sweep my brush across all of them and it gives a pretty pink rose look.

Maybelline Lash Sensational- This is one of my favourite mascaras that I would always go back to. Everything about this mascara is a 10/10 from me. It makes my lashes so much longer and gives them so much volume too. It doesn't leave any annoying fallout and lasts throughout the whole day. It definitely is sensational.

Do you personally like any of these 5 products?

Peachy Pastels : Spring Nails

Rimmel London - 408 Peachella - Rita Ora Collection

I personally love pink and pastel colours, so when I saw this, I fell completely in love with it! I love Rimmel London nail polishes anyway. I'll admit now to owning quite a lot of them. Although until now, I haven't ever owned one from Rita Ora's collection.

Obviously, it's a very peachy colour, I'd class it as a dainty pastel spring colour. It has a fat brush which I prefer to the small, thin brushes. I feel like it's so much easier and quicker to apply the polish.
Peachella is a manageable consistency. Let's be honest, nobody likes them really runny nail polishes. It suits pale people lovely which took me by surprise. I honestly thought it wouldn't because it's such a light colour itself.

Peachella lasts around a week without chipping. To add shine and make them last longer, I used Soap & Glory's 'the all clear' top coat. Peachella is the perfect colour for spring!

Kaeso Beauty

kaeso beauty

kaeso beauty product reviews

I had been using make-up wipes ever since I started wearing make-up at the age of 13. I never knew how bad they actually were for your skin until I studied beauty therapy at college. I came across the brand, Kaeso Beauty and I love the products, they're perfect for sensitive skin and so affordable.

Revitalise Your Eyes Eye Make-Up Remover - With every eye make-up remover I've tried in my life, they always irritate my eyes and make them itchy. This product doesn't irritate my eyes at all and it's a very gentle creamy consistency, especially good for the delicate parts of the eyes. This product is formulated with witch hazel to improve the condition of the delicate eye area - I must say, which is fantastic for me as I have been using make-up wipes for about five years.

How to use:
I wet a cotton pad with cold water, fold it in half and place it on my lower lash line. I then put some eye make-up remover, (not too much!) on another cotton pad and gently remove the mascara from my lashes and eyeshadow from my lids. I then repeat that routine on the other eye. I use this product before cleansing my face.

Calming Cleanser - In Kaeso's cleansing range you can get hydrating cleanser which is for normal to dry skin, rebalancing cleanser for oily to combination skin or you can get calming cleanser for sensitive skin. Obviously I have sensitive skin so I went with the calming cleanser. It's a very light creamy product which is very easy to use and wash off. This cleanser contains Vitamin E which helps protect the skin against the environment. The main ingredients in this product is mulberry and pomegranate. Mulberry soothes and moisturises and pomegranate helps protect the skin from UV damage. I always feel and look so refreshed afterwards.

How to use:
I use this after removing all of my eye make-up. I simply damp my face with clean warm water and apply a good amount of cleanser to my face and jawline. I rub it in circular motions just to get those impurities and dirt out of the skin, don't forget the top of your neck! Then with clean warm water, I wash off the cleanser. After cleansing, I pat my face and neck dry and apply my toner.

Rediscovering the love of... Hi Brow!

Hi Brow

I got this for Christmas 2014 and I've used it a fair amount of times. Although, I ended up falling in love with another eyebrow product which I use everyday that is the I-groom pencil from New Cid Cosmetics. I have used Hi Brow here and there when I felt like using it and when I've created some makeup looks. I wrote a post on this last year which is why I'm rediscovering my love of Hi Brow today, I've missed it a little.

Hi Brow Review

I have the Hi Brow compact in the shade light brown. It comes with a dual ended brush with an angled side and a flat side. In the compact you also get three eyebrow stencils; angled, curved and straight. To be honest, I'm not a massive fan of the stencils, I just can't seem to align them properly with my brows. It's just hard work to be honest. Other people I know have gotten on with them and they have actually used the stencil to tweeze the shape of their brows, which I think is a fab idea!

I usually use the flat side of the dual ended brush and apply the powder very lightly to my brows. If I apply too harsh, it's quite hard to get rid of the majority of the colour. I only apply very lightly as I have light hair, if you have darker hair then you could probably get away with it. I feel like I can work better with powder than pencil. I can also create that 'ombre' look much easier by using a clean spooley and the powder itself. Whereas, using my brow pencil I find that it's a lot more work.

I absolutely love the highlight in this compact. It's not too light or too shimmery, it's just perfect to highlight the brows. It's a nice light pink shimmer. You could probably use this elsewhere on your face too.

What do you use to fill in your brows? What do you think of Hi Brow?

GUEST POST: How to Pull Off 4 Spring Biggest Make-up Trends

spring makeup trends 2016

Peter is a beauty editor for HighStyleLife magazine, from Brisbane, Australia. After graduating from Australian Institute of Creative Design, he worked as a beauty consultant and a stylist for few fashion events in Brisbane. Beside beauty and fashion, he loves reading, cooking exotic meals and traveling around tropical destinations. He plans to create his business for beauty and style advising.

With spring just around the corner, the excitement we feel is absolutely understandable. The easy fabrics, the colour explosions, the sun - what's there not to like!

With every season we are experiencing trend changes which is pretty awesome given all of us like to include a little bit of individuality into our lives expressed through clothing pieces we are showing off. Naturally, it's not all about the clothes - much of our personal fashion identity comes through the type of make-up we wear; from heavy to no make-up look to plenty of other options at our disposal, we are really given the opportunity to challenge ourselves and find the look that's going to become our signature piece.

This spring, there'll be four evident and biggest make-up trends you'll simply fall in love with!

Sun Kissed Face

spring makeup trends

We've adored the nude palette throughout 2015 and continued now, too. The appearance of rose quartz and serenity have brought about a particular freshness when combined to the natural tones and now - we are leaning towards the most natural look possible.

A little bit of powder and bronzer on the cheekbones for the sun-kissed effect and you are ready to step out of the house! To channel this look inspired by contouring technique, it is best to keep your skin healthy at all times - apart from exfoliating and natural masks, the way to keep that natural glow and eliminate blemishes is to use organic makeup brushes when applying make-up. Many celebrities who had a rhinoplasty procedure have gone crazy for this look because it supremely covers all face flaws.

Blues for Fierce

blue eyeshadow

Blue is the colour that usually brings about a certain discomfort as not everyone knows how to handle it. However, this summer we will be loving all shades of blue - from heavy dark shades to light blues that reminds you of sea waves. Mostly, it will be worn as eyeliner (thick lines and cat eyes), nail polish, highlights in the hair and eyeshadow. Those edgier will try their blue on the lips too. Why not!

Ever since Serenity was introduced into the make-up palette of 2016, designers have been racing to include it into their collections and transition the trend to clothes too, so don't be surprised if you start seeing blue all around.

Coral lips, kiss me

coral lips

Lip fashion is going to be super youthful and soft - from see through lip glosses that will enhance your pout (never overdo with the lip gloss as it will cheapen you) to colours like coral red, mauve and rose quartz (we've already been using these and we'll continue to do so), orange and deep red. The deep red isn't a surprise as it's really a classic and will never go out of fashion.

Yellow on the lids, I am the Sun

yellow eye shadow

A pretty awesome surprise comes in the form of yellow eye shadow and eye liner that will be a real hit this spring! The thicker your yellow is on the eyes, the more cool you'll look - a thick eyeliner on a darker skin will give the eyes that extra pop you were looking to achieve and brighten up the whole face!

Similarly to the yellow, sparkles on the eye will also be a dominant part of the make-up trend in spring. Even though we are used to using sparkles for big events and festivals, this time around the sparkle is following into 2016. Get your eyes twinkling and add some shimmers to your regular look by subtly wearing your sparkle during the day or full on for the evening!

Happy spring, you little beauties - enjoy the new colours of your face!

Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

Upgrading from my recent affair with Maybellines Lash Sensational, I fancied a change and bought The Falsies Push Up Drama mascara. The packaging instantly got my attention - who would've thought that pink and red looked so good together? I honestly thought that this was double ended. I assumed that the pink part of the tube unscrewed as well as the top part, but it didn't - awkward.

The first use, there was a lot of product on my brush and I found that the mascara had a very wet consistency. Which meant, my lashes looked a bit clumpy and it took a while for me to sort them out. However, using this mascara a number of times after, I haven't experienced the same problem I had the first time I used it.

It's a very different brush compared to the Lash Sensational - which is much more curved and a little fatter. I love the bristles of this brush, they're cup shaped and very close together to make sure it gets every lash and gives the volume needed. The pictures of my eyelashes are from the second use. Again, there was a bit too much product but it was much more manageable than the first time round.

It definitely gives enough volume and lift. Remember, I don't use eyelash curlers so imagine my lashes after using eyelash curlers, woah! The mascara was very easy to apply. Although, I do get a little bit of mascara fallout under my eyes after about 5/6 hours. But overall, I love this mascara!
