Louise Young Cosmetics

louise young cosmetics review

I started level 2 beauty therapy at college at the start of September and so far I am loving it!
I can't exactly remember how much the price for the make-up kit was, but it worked out cheaper as it was a college kit and they weren't all separate.

I never heard of Louise Young until I ordered my make-up kit. When I ordered it, I checked out a few blog posts about Louise Young cosmetics and I really liked the look of the products.

So, when I received this, I was so excited. I just wanted to open everything and try it all out. I haven't yet tried everything out properly, I've just done a few swatches and wanted to share what they're like.

Super Concealer:

louise young super concealer

Fair Palette: L to R- Fair 1, Fair 2, Fair 3

louise young super concealer

Medium Olive Palette: L to R- Medium Olive 1, Medium Olive 2, Medium Olive 3

The concealers are like a creamy powdery consistency. From what I've tried, it gives great coverage and matches any skin tone well.

Blusher:

louise young blusher

Maudie (Blusher) & Owls (Highlighter) - Maudie is a nice orange/pink tone. It may be too dark for pale skin but we'll see.
Owls is a bright white highlighter. It's not shimmery at all and it blends easily if you don't want your highlighter too harsh.

louise young blusher

Boom Boom (Blusher) & Owls (Highlighter) - Boom Boom is a very pale pink colour. I can already tell that this would suit me very well.

louise young blusher

Highway (Blusher) & Owls (Highlighter) - Highway is a very hard shade to explain. It's a pinky brown colour with a dark pink tone. It's not as dark as it looks here.

Lip Palettes:

Palette 3:
L to R-
Payback - Reminds me of Autumn, it's a gorgeous plum colour.
Sweet Pea - Beautiful hot pink shade.
Blossom - Maybe too light for me for the lips. It's a very light pink/coral shade.

Palette 4:
L to R-
Siren - Dark red with a hint of purple.
Wow - Usual red shade that everyone wears. It's not too dark or too light.
Leaving Venice - This one is a pinky red, very different.

Palette 5:
L to R-
Berry Crush - Another shade which reminds me of Autumn. It's a lighter plum than the 'Payback' shade in palette 3.
Spun Sugar - Dark pink/brown shade. My kind of colour.
Sand Storm - Light colour but still a dark pink.

Eyeshadow:

Essential Eye Palette:
L to R-
Ting - This is a very light colour. You could use this to highlight or it would be great as a base.
Maowi - Light brown/grey colour.
Pom Pom - A dark brown shade. Perfect for that smokey eyed look.
Black Bear - Simply a black shade.
Sislet - Dark red/maroon colour.

Azur:
L to R-
Antibes - Yellow/dirty yellow colour. I'm not a big fan of the colour yellow for eyeshadow, but I could make it work I suppose.
Beaulieu - Light brown.
Eze - Very beautiful light blue. This palette just reminds me of Summer!

6 Brush Set:

L to R-
LY28 Flat Lip - Lip brush for applying lipstick, gloss and balm. Hair is synthetic.
LY37 Brow Brush - Simply use to fill in your eyebrows. Hair is synthetic.
LY26 Lip/Concealer Brush - This brush can be used as a lip brush or as a concealer brush. Hair is synthetic.
LY09 Multi Purpose Brush - Excellent for eyeshadow application. Hair is natural.
LY45 Super Blender 1 - Eyeshadow blender. Hair is natural.
LY04 Maxi Powder/Blusher - Great for applying either powder or blusher. Hair is natural.

5 Products I'll Never Buy Again

5 products i'll never buy again

I would just like to say that I'm not against any of these products that I mention in this post. They just don't work for me personally so I wouldn't purchase them again.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Primer- I've owned this for a while and I've used it many times - enough times to realise that it's not for me. It makes my skin dry and my makeup ends up all patchy after applying it.

Kelly Brook Nail Polishes- As you can see, there's two Kelly Brook nail polishes shown above. They're actually a pack of two and I added these because these are the ones I actually own myself. I don't know about you, but I find these incredibly runny. I just can't manage them. I also find that it doesn't go on evenly either.

Benefit Porefessional- I'm probably going to get a lot of hate for this one because it's most peoples go-to product. But it just doesn't work for me! I have huge pores and they're so hard to hide. I honestly thought that this product would do the trick but it didn't.

Vo5 Dry Backcomb Spray- I first saw this advertise on a YouTube video. You know them very annoying adverts whilst you're waiting for a video... eurgh! To get volume in my hair, I usually backcomb at the root, which isn't healthy for your hair! (me, a hairdresser? You wouldn't think so!) I ended up buying this product honestly thinking that it was going to work. It does absolutely nothing

Makeup Revolution Ultra Blush and Contour Palette- I mentioned this in a Makeup Revolution haul post. This was the only product that I weren't too keen on. There's about 2 or 3 shades out of the 8 which I do like. I don't love them, but I like them. So why would I waste my money buying another palette?

Do any of these 5 products work for you or do you have the same problem?

Makeup Revolution Haul #2 + First Impressions

Hi lovelies!

I bought a few lovely bits from Makeup Revolution a while ago (you can see my first haul here) and I was just so impressed with the quality of the products. So obviously, I bought more!

Stay don't Stray - Eye Primer

makeup revolution eye primer

As I suffer from oily skin, I usually get that annoying horrible crease line across my eyelid. Come on, you must know what I'm talking about here!? This primer fixes that! No matter how long I like to keep my eyeshadow on throughout the day/night that crease line doesn't appear, ever!

It also makes the shadows look much more vibrant. Plus, it was only £1.50 - how affordable for something amazing!

Pro Fix Oil Control - Makeup Fixing Spray

makeup revolution makeup fixing spray

I first heard good reviews about the normal fixing spray from other beauty bloggers, so I had been thinking about getting it for a while. While I was on Makeup Revolutions website, I decided to get the 'new oil fixing spray' instead of the normal one. Mainly because it was new and secondly because it is meant to control oily skin.

This sets your makeup for hours straight. Although, I'm not too sure about the 'oil fix' as my skin still gets oily throughout the day. (I must just have incredibly oily skin.)
So to be honest, I might as well have just bought the normal setting spray. It was only £5, so I'm not too bothered.

Hot Smoked - Eyeshadow Palette

I wanted a simple palette with a few eyeshadows in and I came across this one! The eyeshadows are incredibly pigmented! This has 12 eyeshadows - 5 matte and 7 shimmer. It also comes with a dual ended applicator, which I don't use anyway. The shadows are incredibly pigmented and believe it or not, it was only £4!

Each shade doesn't have individual names, which is aggravating as I like it when each eyeshadow have names, it's just easier for me.

Eyes Like Angels - 32 Shade Eyeshadow Palette

makeup revolution eyes like angels

I had to spend so much to get this palette for free. I didn't actually realise until I looked in my basket when I was about to checkout. This palette has 32 shadows. Most are shimmer with a few mattes. There's a mix of bright colours and smoked colours. I absolutely love this palette, such amazing pigmentation! It's only £8!

I actually did a makeup look using this palette which you can find here.

Top row:

Golden Sugar - Ultra Blush & Contour Palette

makeup revolution ultra blush and contour palette

As I'm pale, I find it quite hard to get the right colour blush to suit me. So, I thought that I'd take a look on the Makeup Revolution site and I found this! This is both a blush and contour palette - which is handy! So I thought why the hell not!? All these shades are very pigmented and very shimmery.

ultra blush and contour palette

Shade 1- This is personally too shimmery and glittery for me. I couldn't really use this as a highlighter.

Shade 2- As I'm quite pale anyway, this is just too light. It just doesn't suit me.

Shade 3- This could be one of my favourite shades in the palette. Somehow, I don't find it as shimmery as the rest of the shades but it suits me best.

Shade 4- This is a very bronze/orange colour. It doesn't suit me at all. It's way too dark.

makeup revolution blush palette

Shade 5- It's not too dark or too light. Can't really see the colour, just the shimmer. Another one of my favourites maybe?

Shade 6- Again, a very shimmery shade. I can't really use very much of this as I'll look like I'll have very dark cheeks. It may look better if I had a tan though. I really do like this one.

Shade 7- This reminds me of Autumn. It's obviously way too dark for me and too intense. A big no no on this one!

Shade 8- Many people contour with this shade, which I have done myself a few times. It does look okay once blended, so it's not so harsh. Yet again, it is quite an orangey colour. I can get away with it though.

Copper Eyes and Nude Lips : Autumn Makeup

I haven't done a makeup look in like, forever!

As it's now Autumn, I thought that now would be the perfect time to show you my perfect Autumn look. (Minus the liner - obviously I'm sure you can do a lot better as I'm a beginner)

So, lets jump straight into it!
Just to say, my eyeshadow shades are all from two different palettes from Makeup Revolution - just so you don't get confused!

copper eye makeup

First, I apply my base shade from the 'What you waiting for' palette in the shade 'Super hot female.' I then apply the shade 'Copper Dream' from the palette 'Eyes like Angels.' This was a very bright orangey colour, so I had to blend that out before applying my next shade.

autumn copper makeup

Next, I applied the shade 'Award' from the palette 'Eyes like Angels' on top to add a bit of a gold tone. I then decided that I wanted a bit of a darker colour in the crease part of my lid. So, I added a little bit of 'Shut my Eyes' from the 'What you waiting for' palette and just blended it all together.

I then applied some 'Shut my Eyes' on my lower lash line.

autumn makeup

I then applied my liquid liner (Which is terrible - I must say!) and my mascara. I only done one coat of mascara as I end up applying my lashes in a sec.

eyelure sexy senorita eyelashes

I just love how much false lashes can enhance the makeup look!

I put a bit of white liner from 'Barry M' on my water line. I then highlighted my brow bone using the shade 'White Chocolate' from the 'Eyes Uncovered Collection' nude palette.

nude pink lips

I decided to go for quite a natural lip instead of an 'autumn berry colour' that everyone is obsessed with at the moment.
Even though I love that look, it just didn't go with my eyes and I thought that quite a simple lip went best. It's really personal preference to be honest.

Anyway, on my lips I used 'L'Oreal Colour Riche' in the shade 'Greige Amoureux' (aka 632)

This is my finished look! I hope you like it and it's gave you some inspiration. I do know that I really need to work on my liquid liner - every one was at this stage once in their life, right!?

Smile, it's Simple

Hello lovelies!

After a lot of years finding a skincare brand that I'm not allergic to or that irritates my skin, I found Simple. Simple is great for sensitive skin and I've been using it for a few years now and I love it!
There's no artificial perfume or colour and no harsh chemicals so it won't irritate your skin.

I already had the moisturiser and the make-up remover. Annoyingly, I ran out of the eye make-up remover so I had to go and buy some more. I'm so happy I did because I got a couple more purchases too!

simple products

Refreshing facial wash gel- This doesn't actually smell of anything, although it leaves your skin so soft. I use this after being in the shower/bath and in the morning after waking up. I leave it on about 5 minutes before washing it off with warm water. After using this, I feel re-freshed and awake.
In your hands, work a small amount into a lather. Massage onto wet skin and rinse with water. It also has both pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E.

Hydrating Light moisturiser- You can feel it sinking into your skin after applying it. It smells fresh and works for 12 hours. I always use this before applying my make-up and it really helps the dry areas. The skin loving ingredients inside is glycerin and borage seed oil. Smooth gently into your face and neck using upward and outward movements. This also has both pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E.

Soothing facial toner- There's quite a lot as you can see, it's quite a big bottle so it should last you ages. I love applying this in the morning as it's so cold. It definitely wakes your face up and leaves you feeling re-freshed.

Although, I was hoping that it would minimise the appearance of my pores but that didn't happen. Apply generously to cotton wool and wipe in gentle upward movements over your skin morning and evening. Follow with the hydrating light moisturiser. This has pro-vitamin B5 and pro-vitamin B3. The skin loving ingredients in this is chamomile, witch hazel and allantoin.

Eye make-up remover- This is my all time favourite eye make-up remover. I instantly stopped using wipes after using this for the first time. It also removes other make-up than just eye-makeup. Unlike other eye-makeup removers, this doesn't leave my eyes sore, red and itchy - which is what I was worried about when first using this. Although, the bottle is quite small so you're able to go through it very quickly which is disappointing. Apply to cotton wool and wipe gently around your eye without rubbing. This has pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E.

It's so lush!

Hi lovelies!

Today's post is going to be all about lush!
If you read 'what I got for my 18th birthday post' you would know that I got a few nice bits from lush from my sister. So here is my lush haul!

lush goodies

Creamy Candy Bath-

Smells like sweets. I broke this in half so it wasn't very bubbly but more bubbles seemed to appear after a while of sitting in the bath. By the pictures, you can tell that this was definitely creamy.

Melting Marshmallow Moment-

Looks and smells exactly like marshmallows. There was no fizz, I just waited for it to dissolve. It dissolved quite quickly considering how big it was. The water turned really pink and also had a few sparkles here and there.

King of Skin-

lush king of skin

I couldn't get enough of the smell but the product was still on my skin after many times of trying to wash it off completely, I felt so slimy! Although, the product dried quickly after it being out of the water ready for the next use which is good. Sorry lush, but I won't be using this again. I just didn't get on with it!

You've been Mangoed-

lush you've been mangoed

I love this product! It smells just like mangos - which I love! It left my skin feeling so soft. Definitely better than 'King of Skin!'

Butterball-

Smells lovely - can't even describe the smell. It fizzed around the bath turning quickly which I was honestly fascinated by. It also dissolved very quickly. I felt incredibly soft as soon as I stepped into the bath.

The Comforter-

I think that this is one of my favourites from lush. It's a very sweet/fruity/berry smell. Leaves me feeling so soft and smooth. Even though I broke the bar up into small pieces, I felt like there was still tons of bubbles from the tiniest bit I broke off. You definitely get your moneys worth with this one.

Shower Gel and Marilyn Hair Treatment-

it's raining men shower gel

It's Raining Men Shower Gel- It smells so much like honey and cinnamon. It's very strong. Myself and other people can smell it on me after coming out of the bath/shower and for the rest of the day, unlike other wash products.

Marilyn Hair Treatment-

lush marilyn hair treatment

This makes my hair a lot softer and much more shiny. Being bleach blonde, my hair is in quite good condition anyway. I'm not too sure about it making my hair brighter though. Maybe it's my fault and I need to use it some more for me to see difference. However, you're meant to put a lot on - which I did. Saying that, you probably can't get many uses out of it anyway - Which is guttering as it's expensive.
