Garnier Pure Active 3 in 1 Charcoal Anti-Blackhead Review

garnier pure active blackhead review

I've always struggled with blackheads and big pores. I can never seem to get rid of my blackheads, I've only ever been able to reduce the appearance of them. Garnier Pure Active is a 3 in 1 product; wash, scrub and a mask. I've been using this product for a few months now and tried each way in using it to see if there's any difference in the results.

The uses:
Wash - apply daily to a wet face.
Scrub - Every day, gently massage to exfoliate the skin.
Mask - Up to three times a week, apply to a clean dry face.

I have personally found that there is no difference whatsoever in what way you apply this product. I feel like each way gives the exact same results. This product definitely reduces the look of pores and blackheads. It does also mattify the skin which is perfect if you have super oily skin like mine! I have found that I don't need to use blotting paper as much throughout the day anymore.

My favourite way to use this product was doing the mask method as you can always see the dirt and impurities being drawn out of the skin. I was worried about my skin becoming really dry after doing the mask technique so many times a week but my skin was absolutely fine.

Overall, this product does work and reduces the appearance of blackheads and pores. It's definitely not a 3 in 1 product though as all the uses do the same job and give the same results.

What can you recommend for blackheads and oily skin?

Four Recent Drugstore Lip Discoveries

 drugstore lip products blog post

A few weeks ago, I was routing through my drawer full of makeup and realised that I haven't bought any lip products for quite a while. Hell no, I was not having this! So, I made a trip to Boots and actually spent around an hour in there swatching loads of different lippies. I eventually narrowed my choices down to just four lip products, how that was even possible I don't know.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Lip Colour:

(£5.99)
This lippy is quite new in the drugstore world. I've seen positive posts floating around about these lipsticks, so of course I had to get myself one. There were quite a few shades for me to choose from, I went for 'Rose & Shine'. It's such a perfect pink colour that everyone could get away with! The brush is big and flexible which is amazing because I always struggle at applying lipstick. It's nice and creamy and easy to work with too. Sometimes, with other matte lippies, your lips can feel so dehydrated and dry but you don't even know you're wearing this! Staying on the topic of matte, I love the matte design of the tube as well. The only thing I'd change about this lipstick is the drying time, I just wish it dried a little quicker.

NYX Butter Gloss:

(£5.50)
I haven't owned a lipgloss since I was probably about fourteen. There's not too much to say about this one. It's a basic, simple, light pink lipgloss named 'Crème Brulee (BLGO5)'. It applies evenly but it's quite sticky once it's first applied. It obviously wears off very often throughout the day as it's only a gloss, but there's no harm in re-applying it. It's light and soft on the lips. I usually wear this on my days off work when I'm running errands or doing little bits and bobs. It's not great for a full day at work as it just wears off way too quick for you to re-apply again.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lipliner:

(£3.99)
As well as lining my lips along with using lipstick, I also like to use liner on its own. This colour is gorgeous and gives me crazy Autumn feels. I'm so excited to be wearing this more now that the A/W season is finally here. This liner is long lasting until eating or drinking; it wears off very easily on the inner part of the bottom lip (which of course, makes sense).

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream:

(£6.00)
I bought a soft matte lip cream from NYX sometime last year. I'm actually surprised I haven't bought one since then and now as I loved it so much! I bought this in the shade 'Cannes (SMLC19)' which is a gorgeous colour. This is my all time favourite matte lip product by far! I don't know about anyone else, but I love the smell of these! I can't even describe it. The consistency of these lip creams are very creamy and super easy to apply. Again, this product doesn't dry your lips out at all. I find that NYX's Lingerie range can make my lips look and feel quite dry but the matte lip cream range is so light on your lips and just makes them look amazing. It also dries instantly too. I think I will eventually end up buying the whole range of colours.

Have you tried any of these lip products yet? How have you got on with them?

Three Books I've Loved Recently

book reviews blog post

I used to read books all the time when I was back in school. I've always felt like reading really relaxes my mind and helps with my anxiety. As I've been reading a lot recently, I thought I'd share with you the three books I've loved and would recommend.

SAPPHIRE
I have loved Katie Prices books ever since I attended her 'Paradise' book signing back in 2010. All of Katie's books have me attached every time I read them, I find it really hard to put them down. Sapphire is a glamourous business woman but after catching her husband in bed with another woman, she only wants a friends-with-benefits type relationship, nothing serious. There's so much happening in this book, it's really exciting and I can never seem to put the book down after I've finished a chapter as I just want to know what happens next.

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN
This book has been out for ages now, and I have been recommended it by many people. I found the first couple of chapters quite slow and hard to get into. But, I was eventually hooked. Rachel's 'daily commute' to work gets a little boring in near enough every chapter but it's soon forgotten about when you read on. Again, I couldn't put this book down either, I just wanted to keep reading on to see what happens next. Although many people have said that the book is better than the film, I'd definitely still like to watch the film.

STAYING STRONG: 365 DAYS A YEAR
Again, this book has been out for a long time too, I've actually owned it for a few years. If you're a lover of Demi, you'll know that she hasn't had the easiest life and has struggled a lot. There is a little saying each day to help you get through the day. This book has helped me so much grow as a person and overcome my fears. Demi has also included tips on how to stay strong too. My aim was to actually turn a page once a day for a whole year, but that failed. So, every time I'm feeling low, I open up to the next page to start my day. It's very inspirational and helps you feel motivated.

Have you read any of these books or anything similar?
