Reflecting on my 2020 Goals + A Few Goals for 2021

2021 goals blog post

I'm sitting here on this early Monday morning wondering where the heck to even begin because I literally haven't posted on my blog since late November. I have also been so undecided on whether to post this or not as it's a little late to the party, but I suppose it's better late than never, right?

2020 was a year to remember wasn't it!? I didn't really have any goals for 2020 as Liam and I had some big things planned which we wanted to focus on, but unfortunately those plans weren't able to go ahead. However, I did mention exercise and losing a bit of weight which, with the help of lockdown, I actually achieved and stuck to, as well as actually taking exercise up as a hobby. Never in a million years would I have thought that I'd admit to enjoying exercise.

Like last year, I don't have many goals for 2021. The goals that I want to achieve are more for self-care and wellbeing, which I think sprouted from the rough year we had last year. However, I am determined to focus on them, and hopefully come out of 2021 as an even more positive person.

my 2021 goalsTake each day as it comes

Don't stress over things I can't control

Appreciate the little things in life

Take time off social media more often

Improve my skincare routine

Three of these goals have derived from the past year we've had. I'm not going to lie, I have found it really difficult at times. But 2021 is a fresh year, it hasn't started off great but I'm trying not to be a negative Nancy and more of a positive Polly and just take each day as it comes.

Since Christmas, I have taken a few well needed breaks here and there from social media, and it has done wonders for my mental health. At first, I actually thought that I would struggle because I check social media multiple times daily, even more so at the moment as I'm not back at work yet.

I usually just randomly check social media throughout the day without even thinking about clicking on the apps. Half the time, I don't even need to check social media or I was only on it about thirty minutes prior. I found it easier during my social media break if I logged out of each social and put them in a separate folder on my phone, I didn't seem to find myself looking for the apps. Whereas, when I left them where they always have been, I just click on them out of habit, it's like a routine. I've told myself to definitely take breaks more often when I need to this year.

Lastly, there's always room to improve your skincare regime. I personally feel like I have been so slack over the past few months with my skin. I'm slowly getting myself back into a routine and I'm hoping to stick to it and try new products.

Hello 2020

So, this post is a little different than your expected standard 'new year, new goals' post.
I don't really have any goals or resolutions in mind to set for the year ahead.

2020 is a very busy but exciting year for Liam and I. Getting married and hopefully buying our own home. We have a lot to organise and look forward to. Although I have quite a bit of content planned for this year, I'm not sure how it'll go.
Working over 40 hours a week, spending time with my family and Liam's family as well as other commitments outside of work, I know that I'll definitely struggle trying to find the time to blog. I'll of course do the best I can, so please bear with me.

As from next week, I will be back on Slimming World! I have gained a lot of weight within the last half of 2019 and I'm not happy about it. When I first joined Slimming World in February 2019, I actually stuck to it and lost weight. So, I'm going to give it another go and I'm planning to lose three stone by April/May. I feel as though I'll have more motivation this time around as I have a wedding dress to fit into.
As for exercise, I currently already do Ballet but I would also like to take up boxing classes. I've heard boxing is extremely good for fitness and your health. I like trying new things, so watch this space!

Have you set any goals for the year ahead?

2019 : My Goals For The Year Ahead

I love making fresh, new goals for the new year, it always make me feel so motivated and excited for the year ahead. Not long ago, I had written up a reflection of my 2018 goals and to be honest, I didn't achieve much of those. So, lets try again this year!

This goal is more for 2020, but this year, Liam and I need to stay in our mindset of getting our own place. We are still in the middle of saving up and we are literally going to save up as much as we can this year for our own home. So this time next year, I either want to have a deposit put down on a house or be in our own home already. I know it's not as easy as it sounds and it's actually stressing me out already thinking about it. But, I'm going to try not to get stressed about it. It will all fall into place.

Considering we would like to get married in 2021, it's really not too far away and most venues get booked up a year and a half ahead. I have a wedding planner book that I have already started, so hopefully we don't have too much to organise next year. We've already set a budget for our wedding and have contacted the venues that we like for a show round. Once we have the venue booked, everything else will hopefully fall into place. I'll plan little bits and bobs for our wedding this year that I can. All the bigger stuff, we'll leave till next year. Again, I'm not going to stress about it as we have two years.

This was a goal for last year which I didn't really achieve. But, I will definitely get my body back to how I want it this year. I have recently put on SO MUCH weight, I'm the biggest I've ever been. And because I'm only 5'1 and have short stumpy legs, I look even bigger. So, I have gone back to the gym and started my dance classes again. Also, because I'm getting married, this has made me more motivated to get into a fitness routine too. The old Meg bod will be back in no time and the triple chins will disappear!

I used to have such a good skincare routine going but within the last seven/eight months, I have sadly gone back to using makeup wipes. After a nine hour shift, getting home, eating dinner, I can't be bothered to properly cleanse my face. So I've always grabbed the makeup wipes. Basically, I'm lazy af. So, I'm going to use the last of my makeup wipes, I think there's like four left in the pack, and not buy any more! Whether I'll stick to this idea or pop into Tesco and grab some wipes, who knows? It's one of those easier said than done resolutions.

I have really been struggling to keep up with my blog recently, especially over the Christmas period because I have been super busy at work. But, I have taken this week off work as holiday so I can just chill and get little bits and bobs done. I installed a new template for my blog, let me know if you like it. I'll also try and improve my blog photos this week for upcoming posts until I'm 100% happy with them.

I'm always too busy wondering what everyone else thinks. I need to do more of what makes me happy.

What are your goals for 2019?
