Spectrum Brushes: The Glam Clam Review

spectrum glam clam review

the glam clam review blog post

After browsing the Spectrum website admiring their brushes throughout 2016, I asked for the glam clam for Christmas. How gorgeous is the packaging though?! I like to keep my makeup brushes in a holder as it's easier and less messy than keeping them in my makeup bag. Obviously I can't throw this cute lilac clam away though. Great, more unused clutter for my room. But, this is great for travel purposes and sleeping out, so, it does come in useful.

The brushes remind me of mermaids and unicorns. I love the contrast of the two purple colours with the coppery gold and turquoise coloured handle. I feel like the brushes don't pick up as much product as I'd have liked, probably because I'm used to using my Real Techniques brushes, they literally pick up everything. But, these mermaid brushes still do the job and pick up just enough product. All of the eye brushes apply and blend incredibly well. The set contains:

-B01 Flat top buffer
-A01 Large domed powder
-A05 Precision blush
-B03 Buffing concealer
-A06 Large fluffy shader
-B06 Tall tapered blender
-B04 Small angled blender
-A17 Angled brow
-A15 Lip liner
-A09 Angled eyeliner

I usually use my fingers to pat in my concealer but I thought I'd give the concealer buffer brush a go. It's fantastic at buffing in my concealer, it doesn't leave any streaks and it doesn't take away any concealer from my face, like some brushes do. I'm not going to go into much detail about every single brush as they all do the same good job. They're all super soft, they all apply and blend well, they don't leave any streaks, they're easy to clean and I haven't had any bristles fall out.

If you're looking for some new, pretty, long-lasting makeup brushes, these are the ones for you! Buy the set for just £59.99 here.

Brush Egg Review

brush egg

brush egg review

Surely I'm not the only person who thinks cleaning makeup brushes is such a chore. Does anyone actually enjoy it? I'm going to admit now, I don't clean my makeup brushes as often as I should. I clean them about once a month, I know, it's very bad.

Although, since buying this little beauty, it hasn't been at all bad and I'm now washing them once a week! I wanted something that was affordable, but does a fantastic job. The brush egg is made of silicone, which makes it easy to clean afterwards and it's designed for deep cleaning of makeup brushes. You put two fingers in the bottom of the egg to control it whilst cleaning your brushes, this also makes it easier. The small circular parts at the top of the egg are made for lathering, and the grooves give your brushes a super good clean by removing unwanted product. You can use whatever you usually clean your brushes with to clean them on the egg.

I use anti-bacterial hand wash, Dove, to be specific. I simply swirl my makeup brush around on the egg, using the circular shapes to foam up my soap and then using the grooves to give the brush a proper deep clean. It's very straight forward, quick and easy.

After the first use, I was very impressed. The product washes out of the brushes so quickly, which is handy if you have loads of makeup brushes to clean. You can easily see the product coming out of the brushes on the egg and it's much easier than washing them in the palm of your hand. My brushes have never felt so soft or looked so clean before. I highly recommend the brush egg.

E.L.F

Hello lovelies!

Recently I've bought some bits of make-up from e.l.f cosmetics, also known as 'eyes lips face.' So I thought, why not do a small blog post on the products I bought.

Blush with brush:

As I have quite pale skin, I need to test out lots of different blushers, they're either too dark or don't suit me. I thought I would try e.l.f cosmetics. I looked at all the different blushers on their website and I really liked the look of this one and there was a lot of good reviews. So, I got this one, in the colour 'Innocence.'

This is quite light for me. You can hardly see it unless, you keep going over it to build up the colour. It just leaves a bit of a pale pink shimmer. I don't use the brush and I haven't tried using it as I use my own. Now I know for next time, to buy a darker pink colour.

Blush brush:

While I was on the website, I thought I might as well buy another blush brush. I read all of the reviews on different blush brushes to choose the perfect one.

Some people said the brush is a bit small, but personally I think it's the perfect size as it picks up the right amount of product.

It's a high quality and soft brush and it's now one of my favourites!
The brush is also slightly tapered, so the colour goes on accurately. It is also very easy to clean!

Natural lash kit:

Out of all the fake eyelashes I've owned, these are definitely my favourite! They are easy to apply and you can easily re-use them.

The fake lashes look natural, but full! They will enhance your make-up look and your eyes.

If you would like to see what they look like, I have a 'make-up look' post coming up next month which will include these lashes!

Eyeshadow brush:

I have only used this brush once and it is one of my favourite eyeshadow brushes!

This applies the product smoothly and none of the bristles have come out, as of yet!
I've heard some girls say that the bristles in theirs came out after about 2 or 3 uses.

Whereas, I've heard from other girls that their eyeshadow brush is perfectly fine.
I say it's a pot of luck!

It works just as well in the crease and to blend in. This brush is also very easy to clean.

Yet again, I will also be using this for my 'make-up look' post next month. Watch this space!
